Bergman Auto Craft brings you one of the best Mopar upgrades of recent years. Finally, a true 14:1 B-Body Steering Box Kit for 1973 and some 1974 B-bodies with isolated steering columns, with much better feel than the original box. You may have seen it featured in Mopar Action and on Street Legal TV.
Why upgrade your B-Body steering box
Original Mopar boxes are slow and vague, so the car wanders on the highway. This kit gives you precise on-center steering without that typical wandering. The quick 14:1 ratio also means less steering wheel work in the corners, with about 3.5 turns lock to lock according to the box manufacturer.
What’s in the B-Body Steering Box Kit
- Large sector steering box that bolts directly to the existing K-frame and pitman arm
- Our direct-fit coupler, which keeps the safety plunge feature of the original
- Specific pressure and return fittings
- Mopar-style pressure hose for Saginaw pumps, for an OE look and excellent fit
The direct-fit coupler replaces the cast-iron Mopar adapter between the rubber isolator disc and the steering box. Because it uses the original hardware, installation is about as easy as it gets.
Fitment and installation
This kit is a direct bolt-in for 1973 and some 1974 B-bodies with power steering and a rubber-isolated steering shaft. However, modern boxes run at higher operating pressures than the originals. Therefore, we recommend adding our power steering oil cooler. After installation, bleed the system and check the alignment.

Why a kit instead of separate parts? Because every piece is matched to the 73 B-body, nothing needs cutting or guessing, and there are no extra trips to the parts store. So you can order once and install with confidence.
