Steering for your A-body

Our 14:1 power steering box conversion kits bolt in with factory-style parts and don’t require cutting your steering column. A-bodies through 1972 use the small-sector kit; 1973–76 cars use the large-sector kit.

Good to know: the updated steering box runs at higher pressure, so we recommend adding a power steering cooler (see “Finish the job” below). Swapping a Saginaw pump into a 1972-or-earlier A-body with biscuit-mount K-members? You will also need the A-body low-profile hose kit. Not sure which kit is right for your car? Call or text Peter.

Steering box kits

The Master Kit includes everything for a full swap: steering box, coupler, Saginaw-style pump, bracket, pulleys, hoses and belt.

Building with a Gen III Hemi? There’s a steering kit made for it.

Suspension for your A-body

Not sure where to start? Begin with the lower control arm triangle: strut rods, Delrin bushings and boxing plates tighten the front end and improve alignment geometry. Then add upper control arms, torsion bars, shocks and sway bars as your build calls for.

Chassis stiffening for your A-body

Frame connectors and torque boxes stiffen the unibody so the chassis flexes less under power and in corners. Pick your level, then match your year and make: the 1963–66 kits are Dodge- or Plymouth-specific because the wheelbases differ.

  • Level 1Frame connectors plus a set of four Hot Rod torque boxes.
  • Level 2Adds front inner fender braces and a front lower core support brace.
  • Level 3Adds a rear spring relocation kit and a mini-tub kit for up to 4 in. more tire clearance per side.

1963–66 Barracuda with a fold-down rear seat: a Level 3 kit needs substantial fabrication to keep the seat, so call us before you order.

Level 1: frame connectors and torque boxes

Level 2: adds front braces

Level 3: adds rear spring relocation and mini-tubs

Brakes for your A-body

Our Mopar brake system upgrade kit is a bolt-in set with Carbon Kevlar pads and shoes, three PTFE-lined stainless-braided brake hoses and DOT 4 fluid. Tell us your vehicle, axle type and brake configuration at checkout, and a technician will be in touch if needed to make sure the right parts ship.

What A-body owners say

  • “It has been almost two years and everything is still working perfectly, and I love having less steering effort and the quicker steering response.”

    Terry R · 1968 Dodge Dart GTS
  • “The best part of the car is how it drives like a modern muscle car, yet it’s not harsh.”

    Brian U · Duster
  • “All the parts fit perfectly without any modifications.”

    Pete A · 1972 Duster, 6.1 Hemi
