Our Strut Rod Kit A Body is an excellent replacement for the OE strut rods with rubber bushings on Mopar A-body cars. It’s a new OE-style rod with spherical Delrin bushings, and it’s perfect for use with BAC Delrin lower control arm bushings.
What a Strut Rod Kit A Body does
The strut rod runs from the lower control arm to a mount at the front of the chassis. It locates the arm front to back, so it controls caster as the suspension moves. However, the factory rubber bushings squish under braking and cornering. As a result, caster changes, the car darts over bumps and the steering feels vague.
Why spherical Delrin bushings
Our spherical Delrin bushings put the pivot point back in the original location. That minimizes the pull on the lower arm through the suspension travel. In other words, the arm moves smoothly through its arc without binding, while the rod stays firm front to back.
Delrin is a hard, low-friction material, so it doesn’t wear out, squeak or need constant greasing. It also holds the alignment far better than rubber.
- New OE-style strut rods
- Spherical Delrin bushings
- Pivot point in the original location
- Pairs with BAC Delrin lower control arm bushings
Pair this Strut Rod Kit A Body with our Delrin lower control arm pivot and bushing package, since our lower bushing design needs smooth, bind-free strut rod motion. Then get a full alignment after installation. Want everything in one box? Our Stage One Suspension Kit includes adjustable strut rods, bushings and more.
When should you replace your strut rods? If the rubber bushings are cracked, oil-soaked or squished flat, it’s time. Also, if the car pulls or darts under braking, worn strut rod bushings are a common cause. Since the front end will be apart anyway, it’s a good time to check the ball joints and tie rods too.
