The Bergman Auto Craft Power Steering Line Kit 62-68 connects a Borgeson power steering box to the factory hoses on 62-68 Mopars. It includes a conversion pressure fitting and return line, so you can keep your existing pressure and return hoses.
Why you need the Power Steering Line Kit 62-68
The modern box uses metric threads at its pressure and return ports. Factory Mopar hoses, on the other hand, use different fittings. Therefore, you need these adapters to join the two without leaks. Our kit solves that with parts made for the job, instead of a pile of hardware-store adapters.
Mopars from ’68 and earlier use a smaller pressure hose fitting than the ’69 and later cars, so this kit is for 1962 through 1968. Check your pressure hose before ordering. If you’re unsure, the 69-72 kit page shows the other version.
What’s included and installation
- Conversion pressure fitting
- Return line for 11/32″ or 3/8″ factory return hoses
Installation is simple. First, thread the conversion fitting into the steering box pressure port. Then connect your factory pressure hose, and route the return line to your return hose. Finally, fill and bleed the system, and check every fitting for leaks with the engine running.
Also consider a power steering cooler. Modern boxes run at higher pressure than the originals, so a cooler in the return line helps keep fluid temperatures down. It’s cheap insurance for your pump and box.
Because the kit uses your factory hoses, the engine bay keeps its original look. That matters on a restored car, and it saves money on a driver too. Also, there’s no need to stack adapters, which are a common source of leaks. Running aftermarket AN hoses instead? Call us and we’ll help you sort out the right fittings.
